Olive house is the original student housing cooperative started in 1938.  The house closed at an unknown date and was purchased by UKSHA in 1998.  The house is run by students and offers a diverse and engaging cooperative experience.   Olive house is comprised of 8 bedrooms located on the top two floors with common space on the first floor and basement levels.  It is the smallest student housing cooperative in Lawrence.  Rent is about $310 month (2007 rate) that includes all utilities, high speed internet, laundry facilities, and various other perks.   Olive house is located just a few blocks from the heart of the the University of Kansas main campus and is within biking distance of Haskell Indian Nations University.  It is within walking distance of a grocery store, hardware store, restaurants, liquor store, and mechanics.  All of the cooperatives are near downtown and parks and recreational facilities.http://www.lawrencecoop.org/uksha/Olive.html
