In order to provide more robust and impactful content to effectively capture the spirit and struggle of Food Justice movements in the United States and Canada, NASCO has been working very closely with organizations that are deeply involved in Food Justice work on the ground in their communities.
As a way of delivering Food Justice programming that is relevant to cooperative youth, NASCO partnered with the Cooperative Food Empowerment Directive (CoFED) in 2013 to develop a day-long intensive workshop. CoFED’s sessions highlighted their work organizing student food cooperatives across the United States and built a space for participants to grow their visions and plan to shift their own university context towards a viable, community-scale food system.
CoFED is a network and training program that empowers students to create ethically-sourced, cooperatively-run food enterprises on college campuses. CoFED is proud to sponsor the 2013 NASCO Institute. For more information, visit www.cofed.coop.
