Parking fees and the maximum hours of use are indicated either on individual meters or central pay stations. The period of time a vehicle may be parked in a particular space should be noted. For example, some spaces may allow parking for 30 minutes while others in the same location may be used for 4 hours or more. The parking rate is $.90 per hour at all locations.
See http://pts.umich.edu/parking_options/visitors.html for more information on parking at the University of Michigan.
Parking in Ann Arbor:
Hourly visitor parking is available at the City of Ann Arbor/University of Michigan jointly operated Forest Street structure and at the City of Ann Arbor Maynard Street structure. Both are located within a short walking distance of central campus.
Locations:
- Forest Structure, Forest Street between South University Avenue and Hill Street (east side of central campus)
- Maynard Structure, Maynard Street between William and Liberty Streets (west side of central campus)
The hourly rate is currently $.95/hour at both locations.
Parking meters in Ann Arbor are also abundant and generally require money from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. but hours may vary. Always check the meter as parking in a restricted and posted area can mean heavy fines and towing charges.
Bring plenty of change - some garages are manned for parking fee collection; some are equipped with a computerized system that accepts currency or change; some have meters only.
