Reduced Registration Fees

NASCO is offering opportunities to work for reduced registration costs.  Since the NASCO main office is located in Chicago, and the conference is held in Ann Arbor, the vast majority of work exchange opportunities are based in Chicago and Ann Arbor.  The nature of the tasks and number of available hours vary greatly between Chicago and Ann Arbor, hence the variations in rates of work exchange.  There are some hours available during the weekend of Institute (see Chicago section below) if you are interested in working some hours and do not reside in Chicago or Ann Arbor.

Chicago Work Exchange

For NASCO members and non-members from Chicago:

15 hours, FREE registration,

8 hours, $110 registration,

or $10/hour.

Although there are opportunities before, during, and after Institute weekend, we would prefer that you complete at least half of your hours and schedule the remaining hours before Institute weekend. 

NASCO welcomes drop-in volunteering at the NASCO office throughout the month of October.  Tasks include copying handouts, preparing and copying course evaluations, copying registration packet materials, creating signs and name tags, highlighting schedules etc.

If you are looking for many hours, there will be a registration packet assemblage party in the NASCO office November 1 & 2 (details TBA).

There are also many opportunities during Institute weekend:

• running supplies between workshops,
• working the registration desk,
• setting up/taking down,
• helping with childcare,
• driving to/from the airport etc. 

After Institute in November, you can help compile Institute and course evaluations.

Ann Arbor Work Exchange

For NASCO members and non-members in Ann Arbor, you can reduce your registration fee by $10-15/hour, depending on the task.

Areas to earn hours before Institute:

• coordinating a community dinner/potluck on Friday (11/6) night,
• coordinating an ICC co-op tour Friday (11/6) afternoon,
• soliciting sponsors for the Institute Restaurant Guide,
• posting fliers & info sheets at all ICC houses the week before Institute, and
• gathering t-shirts for screen printing.

There are also opportunities during Institute weekend (see Chicago section above).
