About MCC
Founded in 1968, MCC is a non-profit organization governed solely by its 200 member-residents who collectively own our 11 cooperative houses in Madison's downtown and near-east side. MCC strives to improve the Madison community by providing low-cost, not-for-profit cooperative housing for very low- to moderate-income people and to be inclusive of underrepresented and marginalized groups.
Major Job Responsibilities
- share the informal role of executive director with the MCC Maintenance and Finance Coordinators
- represent MCC to outside organizations at the local, state, and federal level
- supervise minutes takers, interns, and special project staff
- represent MCC in court and coordinate legal counsel
- design and conduct informational and educational workshops
- assist the organization with strategic planning
- participate in organizational meetings
- enforce member debt policies and work on debt collection
- manage a professional office
- maintain a network of Apple Macintosh computers
- be responsible for all membership contracts (leases)
- design and maintain forms, advertisements, graphics, and print and Web materials
- mediate conflicts
- conduct local site visits
- respond to member needs and requests
- perform general administrative tasks
Qualifications Sought
- prior management experience with non-profit, cooperative, and/or housing organizations
- educational achievement, with a bachelor's degree or higher preferred
- outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- ability to flexibly work irregular daytime, evening, and weekend hours
- experience and comfort working in diverse environments
- ability to work alone and in small and large groups with minimal supervision
- knowledge of housing and tenant-landlord law
Compensation and Benefits
In exchange for 35 hours of high-quality work per week:
- The annual pay rate during the period of the initial six-month contract will be between $31,314 and $37,617, varying according to relevant professional experience. If MCC chooses to continue employment beyond this initial period, the annual pay rate will be between $31,314 and $43,866, again varying according to relevant professional experience.
- Health and dental insurance will be provided.
- Paid holidays, vacation, sick time, and maternity/paternity leave will be provided.
- Staff development funds will be provided.
