DESCRIPTION:\n \n \n \n Interdependence as Resistance\n \n \n
This year’s NASCO Institute theme is Interdependen
ce as Resistance. As the dominant systems in the W
est require individualism to operate\, co-opers re
sist through the daily practices of labor distribu
tion\, collective decision making\, shared cost of
living\, cooking for one another\, and so many ot
her forms of resistance. As the need for mutual ai
d & direct action rises across the globe\, how can
co-opers continue learning while weaving our esta
blished ways of interdependence into our larger co
 mmunities and movement spaces?\n \n \n \n At Insti
tute\, we will explore what it means to build—from
housing to networks to policy—while confronting t
he ever-mounting systemic forces working against u
 s. Through skill-building workshops\, collaborativ
 e discussions\, and storytelling\, we’ll grapple w
ith the collapse of unsustainable systems and shar
e strategies for growing sustainable alternatives.
We’ll connect the act of building with the cooper
ative values of equity\, democracy\, and mutual ai
d\, emphasizing the transformative power of collec
tive action in times of crisis. Together\, we’ll e
xplore the parallels between dismantling systems o
f inequity and growing alternatives rooted in thes

vement\, sharpen our strategies\, and build cooper
ative solutions to the challenges of today.\n \n \
