I have a background in community organizing & multicultural coalition-building. I live in a co-op in Berkeley California.
For my independent project I am creating anti-racism resources that can be used at individual cooperatives. However I don't want to assume I know the entirety of what is needed based solely on my own experience. I'd like to gather information from all of the NASCO member co-ops within the USA.
Please complete this survey with your experiences at your current, or any previous, co-op. Survey link here: https://bit.ly/Anti-RacismCo-opSurvey
The survey is anonymous. You might want to share your story and you may reach out to me via email (see below).
I would like to get information from all the US-based co-ops and members. I'm seeking information from all races, all genders, and all co-op stakeholders including staff and membership. I'm trying to get a sense of how competent our current co-op structures are to deal with racism and discrimination, and how competent individual co-op members feel in knowing how to address situations given the current structures.
The survey should be quick, about 5-7 minutes, and asks a series of questions to illuminate and evaluate the current conditions of your co-op. The resources developed will be available via NASCO for use for your co-ops. I'm creating a touchstone that can be used to develop multicultural homes that provide safety for all members.
