Summary: 

Reports to: Facilities & Operations Director and Executive Director

Responsible for: The Facilities Coordinators are responsible for assisting the Facilities & Operations Director in the oversight and support of the College Houses Facilities & Operations Master Plan. They work under the supervision of the Facilities & Operations Director and with house Maintenance Coordinators to ensure the best possible upkeep of the facilities while educating members on how to maintain their buildings themselves. Assists with training Maintenance Coordinators and is the primary support for work crews.

Hours and Status: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt

Duties:

A. Maintenance Programs and Coordination

  • Primary resource for house repairs including repairing bathroom components and doing minor electrical and carpentry work.
  • Available as an on-call after hours contact for house emergencies. This duty should be shared primarily between the 2 coordinators.
  • Assist as required during inspections, repairs or walk-thru of the houses.
  • Assists the Facilities & Operations Director and house officers with implementation of a comprehensive preventative maintenance program.
  • Maintains log of work done at houses in order to support efficient operations and effective use of resources.
  • Assists in creation of an annual work plan for the facilities staff and Maintenance Coordinators.
  • Implements projects assigned by the Executive Director and Facilities & Operations Director.
  • Assists the Facilities & Operations Director in maintaining contact with contractors.
  • Assists in requesting bids.
  • Assists in maintaining maintenance records of projects, repairs, and costs.
  • Work with Facilities & Operations Director on short term building and room maintenance projects.
  • Work closely with Facilities & Operations Director to meet fire safety standards at all Houses.
  • Responsible for general oversight of house maintenance programs to include monitoring of maintenance expenses and equipment.
  • Do repairs that can be managed in-house.
  • Maintain maintenance records of projects, repairs and costs.
  • Coordinate and oversee maintenance and facilities issues related to end of semester check out.
  • Coordinate summer and interim work crew programs

B. House Operations

  • Coordinates with house officers to assist and teach house residents how to do many of the things necessary to keep the buildings running.
  • Works with the house maintenance coordinator on teaching “how-to’s”.
  • As repairs are being done, teach members the skills necessary to do the job at hand.
  • Oversee the equipping, training, and supervising of member work crews.
  • Develop and update maintenance training manuals for houses.
  • Monitor and oversee general operations for cleanliness and meeting health code requirements.
  • Train and assist Menu Planners and Food Buyers on meal service and food safety.
  • Evaluate kitchen equipment for replacement.
  • Coordinate food handlers training for all members.
  • Ensure that College Houses is effectively managing and reducing waste.
  • Coordinate waste management and recycling efforts at the Houses via training and education.
  • Monitor house labor operations for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to Labor Coordinators when needed.
  • Coordinate house inspections each semester and provide houses with timely written feedback.
  • Coordinate end of semester room, bathroom, and restorative cleaning.

C. Member Education

  • Coordinates with house officers to assist and teach house co-opers how to do many of the things necessary to keep the buildings running.
  • Works with the house maintenance coordinator on teaching “how-to’s”.

D. Logistics & Special Projects

  • Coordinate logistical requirements for special events.
  • Perform research and special assignments on an as needed basis for Executive Director, Houses and Board of Directors.

E. General

  • Help create and maintain a welcoming and professional atmosphere for applicants, members, staff, and the public
  • Treat everyone in a professional, respectful, and friendly manner
  • Work as part of a team of professionals supporting co-op members and facilitating the success of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
