Loan Officer

Shared Capital Cooperative
St. Paul, Minnesota

Loan Officer – Small mission-driven company, great benefits, great staff

If you’re an experienced loan officer or administrator and looking to make a real difference in the world, we’d love to talk to you. We offer exceptional benefits, a high degree of autonomy, and the opportunity to build a loan portfolio you’ll be proud of.

The Company

Shared Capital Cooperative is a $20 million national CDFI loan fund with a successful, 40-year track record of financing consumer, small producer, housing, and worker-owned cooperatives. We’re building a just, equitable, and democratic economy by investing in cooperative enterprises. Shared Capital is democratically owned and governed by 300 cooperatives across 36 states.

We’re a small and growing company. As of this writing, we have seven employees, but have plans to expand significantly over the next two years.

The Position

We’re looking for a full-time Loan Officer. The primary functions of this job are:

  • Help startup and expanding cooperative businesses gain access to needed capital.
  • Grow Shared Capital’s loan portfolio while minimizing its risk.
  • Keep customer satisfaction and retention levels high.
  • Contribute to our good reputation among lenders, CDFIs, and within the co-op ecosystem.

You’ll be working with an excellent and supportive lending team, and collaborating with fellow employees, volunteer committee members, community partners, and our board of directors. We encourage professional development. You may be expected to travel occasionally. We are willing to consider remote work.

Considerable time is spent attending to the capital needs of an extremely diverse universe of borrowers, not all of whom speak English as their first language. You’ll also get plenty of alone time with spreadsheets and with data that lives in TEA loan management software.

The yearly salary range for this position is $57,000-$77,000, depending on your qualifications. Some remote work is possible, depending on business needs.

The Location

Shared Capital is on University Avenue near Highway 280 in St. Paul, Minnesota. We’re bike friendly, and are on the Metro Transit Green Line, and on the 63, 67, and the 87 bus lines.

Why Should You Apply?

  • Great benefits and competitive salary
  • Solid, growing company with 40-year history
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Flexible work schedule, including some remote working opportunities
  • Working for economic democracy and justice
