UHAB is hiring for 3 positions!

The Project Associate in Energy Services will work with low-income co-op shareholders to promote affordability and sustainability through energy efficiency. Applicants must be fluent in English and Spanish.

UHAB’s Energy Services, a division of our Member Services department, engages residents in low-to-moderate income co-ops to promote affordability and sustainability through energy efficiency. The Energy Services team enrolls co-ops in energy efficiency programs, helps co-ops follow energy codes, and guides co-ops through exploring and obtaining renewable and efficient upgrades. Projects will include assessing feasibility and cost of solar arrays and heating system repair/replacements, collecting and analyzing building survey information, calculating the end of useful life of systems, calculating GHG emissions, and performing cost benefit analysis for converting to beneficial electrification, all with the goal to coordinate strategies to reduce energy usage in buildings.

The Part Time Loan Officer will work with first-time homebuyers to help them secure share loans in affordable HDFC co-ops.

UHAB is hiring for a predominantly remote 20 hour flexible schedule independent contractor between the professional hours of 9AM – 6PM, M-F and some evenings. Responsibilities will fall into three categories for low- to moderate income New Yorkers purchasing into limited-equity cooperatives: outreach and relationship building; loan origination, underwriting, and closing; and implementation of new loan products.

The Affordable Housing Project Associate for the Co-op Improvement Program will work with affordable co-ops across New York City to prevent foreclosure and develop resident leaders. Applicants must be fluent in English and Spanish.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has an interest in all aspects of affordable housing preservation and stewardship. The Co-op Improvement/Co-op Preservation Project Associate will report directly to the Assistant Director and Director of UHAB’s Co-op Preservation Department but will work cross-departmentally and collaboratively with several other departments within the organization, including Co-op Development, Organizing and Policy, Member Services and Training. UHAB’s culture is one of cross program collaborations, and this position will give the Project Associate the opportunity to take full advantage of the wide breadth of knowledge housed within each department while advancing UHAB’s mission.
