Brief Description of Organization: 

Up until recently, CHEA has consisted of two adult housing co-operatives in Austin, TX. Sasona and La Reunion houses have operated in Austin since 2002 and 2012 respectively. But in 2020 CHEA partnered with ROC USA, a national non-profit with a model to help mobile home communities (MHCs) organize as co-operatives and purchase the land their homes are on. With this new partnership, CHEA will be working to create MHC resident-owned communities cooperatives across the state of Texas.

Position Title: 
Operations and Development Intern
Position Duties: 

The Operations and Development Intern will work closely with the Operations and Program Managers to support the organization as a whole and the Certified Technical Assistance Provider (CTAP) line of business. Duties will revolve around several of the following: 

  • Social media management and strategy
  • Website maintenance  
  • Fundraising and grant writing/research 
  • Non-profit administrative support 
  • Non-profit operational support 
Position Training: 

Training will take place directly with the Operations and Program Managers, as well as two board members assigned to manage the intern, and will revolve around the day-to-day operations of a non-profit, including financial management, communications and co-operative development. The intern will have an opportunity to learn about the ROC USA model of cooperative ownership in mobile home parks and how to successfully scale cooperative development.

Work can take place in a mixture of places, either at one of the houses, at remote locations or at the CTAP office
