All-member survey report
Over the summer of 2017, NASCO conducted two surveys to take a snapshot of NASCO member cooperatives, the members of the co-ops, and identify opportunities for improvement.

There were 276 anonymous individuals from 41 co-ops who completed the Annual Member Survey and 25 co-ops completed the Census. While our findings are not representative of the entire co-op movement, your responses have offered us valuable insight into our member landscape in the first year of this survey.

A note on GDPR
You've probably been receiving a number of emails regarding General Data Protection Regulation (or GDPR). We think that this regulation is pretty cool! The rights ensured by GDPR aim to give European Union citizens better control of their personal data. NASCO has never sold your personal data, and we will not ever do that. With these updates in mind, we'd like to remind you that you can opt out of receiving emails from NASCO at any time! Just click "unsubscribe" at the bottom of this email. If you'd like to be removed from our database entirely, please reply to this email and let us know.

Staff and Managers Conference recap

Our annual Staff and Managers Conference took place this month in Boston, MA. This professional development program is designed specifically to meet the needs of staff and managers of campus-based housing cooperatives. This year, 25 attendees learned with Tori Kuper and Nati Linares of the New Economy Coalition to expand on movement building skills. Workshops focused on communicating with members and how co-ops can connect and support local and national organizing. Conference attendees also toured a local co-op home, Margaret Moseley Cooperative.

Kicking off this year's Cooperative Internship Network!

We are excited to share that this summer, 15 bright cooperators are participating in our Cooperative Internship Network. The interns are all members of NASCO co-ops and are working with cooperative and new economy organizations across the US and Canada. From working with teens in a Cooperative Leadership Camp in North Carolina to creating and developing a co-op member alumni program in Waterloo, Canada, these are not your typical internships. Stay tuned for updates throughout the summer!
