Co-op Details
We are a forming group, currently organizing out of Ypsilanti, Michigan, who are attempting to establish a non-profit housing cooperative in the area. Our goal is to create affordable LGBTQ+ and disability centered housing that nurtures community through collective home ownership. To that end, we intend to purchase one or more mutli-family housing properties in or near Ypsilanti, and aim to acquire not more than ten units. At this point in the project, we are preparing to incorporate, and plan to file for 501(c)(3) status.
The Aster Housing Cooperative aims to create affordable LGBTQ+ and disability centered housing in the Ypsilanti area that prioritizes nurturing a sustainable community through collective home ownership. By living in alignment with our values, we take daily action to create and maintain a community grounded in radical optimism.

We have not yet established labor requirements, but members will be expected to contribute to maintaining the property and community in ways that are accessible to them.
