Basic Info:

POOCH is a 51-member non-profit housing cooperative spread across 3 houses in the heart of Lawrence, KS. Each of our houses (Sunflower House, Olive House, and Ad Astra) have a unique and ever-changing culture. We are traditionally geared towards students but happily welcome members of all ages and backgrounds. POOCH's aim is to provide cooperative housing and educational experiences in the Lawrence, KS area so our members may participate in democratic self-governance, pursue and uphold anti-oppressive practices, and build sustainable and egalitarian community.

Labor Requirements:

Labor requirements vary by house, but all members contribute by doing chores of some kind. Cooking meals, cleaning the house, and operational roles (such as house treasurer or membership coordinator) make up the majority of this work. Labor requirements average out to about 5 hours per week per member.

Frequency of Shared Meals:

This varies by house. Some houses have 1 community meal per week while others have almost daily meals together.
