Defend & Unite: Co-op Solidarity Planning

.

NASCO and Ann Arbor Inter-Cooperative Council (ICCAA) invite you to join us on Thursday, May 7 for another round of co-op solidarity planning. This is a  facilitated conversation to strategize, share stories, and ground ourselves in collective resistance.

Cooperative housing and the broader co-op sector are rooted in collective ownership, mutual aid, and democratic control—values that run counter to dominant capitalist and individualist ideologies. As right-wing forces consolidate power, these values are increasingly framed as dangerous or ‘un-American’. Co-ops may face (or have already have been facing) a wave of both overt and indirect attacks.

This session is a continuation of conversations we’ve been having around what co-ops are up against right now, and how we actually show up for each other in response. We’ll bring back the list of risks we’ve been working with, update it together, and make space for people to share what they’re seeing in their own communities.

We will explore:

What’s still feeling real as threats/issues our communities face
What’s changed
What feels missing
What people are actually trying

We’ll also spend some time talking about where co-ops are showing up in meaningful ways, and where we might need to shift or grow to meet what’s coming.

If you’ve got thoughts, questions, stories, or just want to listen in, you’re very welcome. We look forward to sharing space, and working toward better protecting ourselves and our communities.
