Canadian Association for Studies in Cooperation (CASC) Conference

Date:
Tuesday, June 2, 2015 to Thursday, June 4, 2015

The upcoming CASC conference will be held at Ottawa University from Jun 2-4, 2015. Our theme of Capital Ideas builds on the Congress theme. We welcome a wide variety of submissions this year with a focus on natural, human, financial, or social capital. In our call for papers we encourage the old standbys (paper presentations, panels, and roundtables); as well we encourage people to think about the workshop format. We also are trying a new format—the case study—to start building a catalogue of co-operative specific case studies for business schools. Please see the call for papers in this newsletter and at http://www.coopresearch.coop/.

We are also happy to announce that we will be working closely again with our sister association, ANSER, as well as CASID and CAFS, to bring our common research and study interests together for formal discussion through paper presentation and informal networking at the banquet, lunches and breaks. And given the success of last year’s practitioner day we are working again with Mark Ventry from OnCoop and have brought in CMC and CQCM to help develop a super day of bridging research and practice.

A couple of new items are on the agenda this year for CASC. CASC is partnering with the Centre for the Study of Co-operatives (USask) to conduct a case study writing workshop. Stay tuned for more information on this. And finally, since this is the last year of the Measuring the Co-operative Difference Research Network (SSHRC-CURA), CASC is teaming up with them to create a stimulating wrap-up of research findings and celebration of the success of this network.

So the conference is already shaping up to be informative and stimulating. Now we need you there to inject the fun, energy, and creativity that comes with hearing about new research and networking with new and old co-op friends. Looking forward to seeing you in Ottawa.
