"Founded in 1976 at the University of Vermont, Slade has spent the past few decades building traditions of sustainability into our members' (Sladers) lifestyles.
We think of ""sustainable"" lives as lived justly -- buying all of our food at fair prices from local farms, supporting music and the arts (we're the proud early venue of Phish and Eric George), keeping Sladers socially and politically engaged, and understanding the consequences of our actions is what we strive to do every year. That mission is never perfectly met, but doesn't stop us from working intentionally & constantly to be better.
With 2017 as our Co-op's first year off of UVM's campus, our work is to root Slade in Burlington -- building a community that will last and grow and keep benefiting anyone who lives or visits here. We have big plans in the works -- stay tuned!"
