The Spartan Housing Cooperative (SHC) is hiring a Member Services Administrator, a role formerly covered by our Member Services Coordinator, and which has been expanded into multiple new positions.
This member-facing administrative position is central to how the co-op operates day to day. We’re looking for someone who is both detail-oriented and people-oriented — someone who can manage systems and spreadsheets but also answer questions, connect with members, and help keep the co-op running smoothly and cooperatively.
About the Role
The Member Services Administrator supports key parts of SHC’s application and contract signing process, communications, and finance compliance systems, including:
- Processing applications, income verifications, and contracts
- Answering member questions and coordinating signing appointments
- Managing payment processing, ledgers, and accounts receivable tasks
- Maintaining accurate occupancy data and compliance documentation
- Keeping our office organized, friendly, and responsive to member needs
Ideal Candidates Bring
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience with Google Suite and comfort learning new software (e.g., AppFolio)
- Familiarity with leasing/property management, nonprofit administration, or compliance work
- The ability to understand and apply Fair Housing rules
- A commitment to cooperative values — co-op experience is a plus, but teachable
- A high degree of tech proficiency is essential
This is a 30-hour/week, on-site position at our office in East Lansing with a starting wage of $18–$20/hour, full benefits, and paid time off.
