Brief Description of Organization: 

The mission of the Students’ Co-operative, Inc. is to promote the social and general welfare of the community by offering affordable, cooperatively-owned housing to all students, regardless of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, disability, public assistance, sexual orientation, gender identity, or familial status and thus influence the community to eliminate prejudice and discrimination in housing; and to initiate, coordinate, and otherwise participate in educational efforts and programs for the education of its members and others in the philosophy, principles, and practices of cooperatives.

Our organization offers co-operative housing at its 1721 University Avenue SE location in Minneapolis, MN, and a meal plan for its members.

Internship Position Title: 
Recruitment and Orientation Intern
Internship Position Duties: 

- Assist the Students' Co-operative's recruitment manager with recruiting new members by designing posters and social media posts, putting up posters, maintaining our presence on housing ad platforms, and further developing our recruitment strategy. 
- Assist the orientation manager with processing applications and moving new members into the house. This may involve interfacing with our property manager. 
- Work with the Students' Co-operative's board and managers to improve our member training and onboarding processes by developing and teaching trainings, creating educational posters, and improving our policies. The goal of these onboarding efforts shall be to improve the organization's co-operative culture. 
- Work with the Students' Co-operative's board and membership to improve our governance practices.

Internship dates are flexible.

Position Training: 

- The Students' Co-operative will provide training on our current practices, and onboard the intern into our recruitment and orientation processes. 

 

Skills Development & Learning: 

The recruitment and orientation intern will gain experience in the following areas: 
- Marketing
- Social Media
- Graphic Design
- Co-operative member education
- Co-operative and non-profit governance
