Since the 1980s, this program has connected talented cooperators with cooperative organizations, providing invaluable work experience while strengthening the cooperative movement.
NASCO’s Internship Network matches skilled students and young cooperators with host organizations—including housing co-ops, worker co-ops, nonprofits, and movement organizations—where they contribute to meaningful projects and build hands-on skills in governance, organizing, finance, and operations.
Through this program, interns gain experience that prepares them for leadership in cooperatives and social movements, while host organizations receive dedicated support from emerging co-op leaders. NASCO provides structured guidance throughout the process, ensuring strong placements and ongoing support for both interns and hosts.

Co-ops, nonprofits, and cooperative businesses can host an intern to support key projects while helping develop the next generation of cooperative leaders. NASCO provides assistance in shaping internship roles, matching candidates, and offering guidance throughout the internship term.

Are you looking for hands-on experience in a cooperative organization? NASCO’s internship program connects you with meaningful summer placements where you’ll gain valuable skills, receive mentorship, and collaborate with fellow cooperators. Interns will also participate in a monthly cohort meeting for networking, guided discussions, and skill-building.

February 6th - March 1st | Intern Host Application period
March 2nd - March 4th | NASCO staff processes host applications
March 10th - April 1st | Intern Application Period
April 4th - 18th | Application review and interview period
April 20th | Host organizations communicate top candidates to NASCO
April 22nd | Internship Placements Completed
May - July | Internships take place (exact dates vary by placement) and Interns cohort connects
Mid-June | Required Host Organization Mid-Point Check-in (held via Zoom)
September 1st | Deadline to complete Post-Internship Survey
