Many people think of money as neutral—just a medium of exchange. But our money system is built on debt, deepens inequality and competition, and drives the destruction of the environment. In this workshop we will discuss some of the problems with the money system giving rise to the need for new kinds of money and payment. We will see how many communities around the world are taking control of their economies with local currencies, timebanks and other alternative systems. We will also present rCredits, a digital democratic currency and payment system you can start organizing in your community today.
