Staff & Managers Pre-Conference

The problems faced by the staff, managers, and administrators of group equity cooperatives are unique and the number of peers is small. For this reason, on Friday, November 2, 2018, we'll offer an all-day program, which will serve as a collective learning forum for co-op staff, managers, and administrators from across Canada and the United States. A staff-specific full-day program allows more space for participants to connect with one another and dig deeper into specific issues. This pre-conference will be held in Koessler Room on the 3rd Floor of the League Building.

The pre-conference will begin with a morning of networking. Then, we are teaming up with folks from the Auburn Seminary for a Bridging Divides training. We hope it will introduce attendees to a range of strategies to help people engage across divides with courage and grace, with the goal of improved, more just relations in diverse communities.

Bridging Divides

Now more than ever, we need tools to be in relationships with our loved ones, our community members, our movement partners, and our fellow humans around the world. With Bridging Divides, you’ll learn about and experiment with some of the most effective tools and strategies engaged by faith-rooted organizers to recognize and respect common humanity as we work for justice, and you will be supported to iterate a strategy ideally suited for your community or challenge.

You'll walk away with:

  • A range of successful strategies to listen, share, and be with people who do not see eye to eye.
  • A plan to engage in difficult conversations with greater skill — and to train leaders in your community to facilitate such conversations in group settings.

Pre-Conference Cost
