American co-operatives are generally isolated from the broader and very active dialogue on co-op management. This workshop will give a brief overview of the global co-operative movement and its central and foundational ideas. Then we will review examples of co-ops that have used these concepts to improve their organizations and discuss how these ideas may be relevant for our co-ops.

Death of a Member

In Fall 2014, a member of a NASCO member co-op passed away unexpectedly. This document, produced by the staff of the co-op, is an anonymized account of the co-op's response to this tragedy.

Democracy at Work Institute Resource Library

The Democracy at Work Institute is building a comprehensive Resource Library that will include a wide range of materials, including academic papers, start-up toolkits, curriculum samples, actual documents from existing worker cooperatives, and more. The topic list below provides a map of the resources that will be available. We are also continuing to publish additional resources on a daily basis.
