Institute Highlights

This year, like every year, we’ve had a lot of fun putting together the program for NASCO Institute, finding new ways to change and improve the conference. While the saying goes “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” we prefer to think that there is no such thing as ‘“too much of a good thing.”

Some key changes to highlight include: featuring two fantastic speakers instead of just one keynote; organizing more workshops (seventy one!) and more course blocks (seven!); hosting a dedicated course track for members of large co-ops; a day-long anti-racism intensive; more programming for co-op staff and managers; and two guerrilla workshop spaces (one more than last year!).

For those of you who like appreciate consistency, you’ll be happy to know that we’ve kept the following elements from last year: the documentary film festival, screening SHIFT CHANGE; the Detroit Tour and local co-op tours; the Banquet and Hall of Fame; the Commons/Coffee House, where you can buy books and swag from Boxcar Books, the Fellowship for Intentional Community, and the Beehive Design Collective; and our Annual General Meeting (for those of you who like governance and want a discounted registration).
