Wednesday, June 22

 

Welcome and Co-op Introduction

9 am PST, 10 am MST, 11 am CST, 12 pm EST | (1 hour)

Please join us at the Welcome Social for introductions. This is a space for attendees to talk about their co-op and share what they are currently working on. This session will include breakout rooms for staff and member leadership.

This session will not be recorded for later viewing.

Introduction to Peer Consultation and Cooperative Leadership Skills

11 am PST, 12 pm MST, 1 pm CST, 2 pm EST | (2 hours)

This session introduces the process we will use over the conference to problem solve with each other. This session will also introduce NASCO's leadership core competencies for successful cooperative leadership. This workshop is for co-op staff and members. This session will be recorded.

Building Trust Between Staff and Members Roundtable 

1:30 am PST, 2:30 am MST, 3:30 pm CST, 4:30 pm EST | (1 hour)

This is a discussion space to talk through common challenges that cooperatives face. This guided discussion will cover communication responsibilities and healthy evaluations. This workshop is for staff and member leadership. This session will not be recorded. 
 

Thursday, June 23

 

Peer Consultation

9 am PST, 10 am MST, 11 am CST, 12 pm EST | (1 hour)

Co-op staff have unique jobs and regularly face very unique problems. Co-op member leadership also face different challenges in their positions. With so few colleagues and peers, it can be difficult to gain insights into the issues that you encounter. Additionally, giving and receiving feedback can be perilous if not done artfully. In an effort to create a positive space for the solicitation of meaningful feedback, moving us from a gathering of peers to a community of practice, NASCO staff will facilitate Peer Consultation sessions to allow participants to collaboratively provide guidance to one another. This session will be broken out into staff and member leader groups for consultation. This session will not be recorded.

Human Resources for Co-ops 

11 am PST, 12pm MST, 1 pm CST, 2 pm EST | (2 hours)

This session offers an overview of policies and practices for co-ops who currently have staff or are considering hiring staff, including legal obligations and cooperative experience for members and staff. This session will also encouraging sharing practices that are good for the co-op and the employees among the participants. This workshop is for staff and member leadership. This session will be recorded. 

Co-op Member Leadership Social 

4 pm PST, 5 pm MST, 6 pm CST, 7 pm EST | (1 hour)

This is an open discussion and introduction space for folks in a leadership role at their co-op.

Friday, June 24

 

Co-op Staff Roles and Responsibilities 

9 am PST, 10 am MST, 11 am CST, 12 pm EST | (1 hour)

This workshop is for co-op staff or co-op leadership with staff.  We will explore determining staff responsibilities and member responsibilities, healthy communication, and fostering a cooperative environment. This session will be recorded.

Planning for Turnover

1:30 pm PST, 2:30 pm MST, 3:30 pm CST, 4:30 pm EST | (1 hours)

Preparation for turnover is an ongoing process and co-ops should keep all tools up to date before turnover takes place. This presentation will walk through action items, best practices, and exit interview resources for board member and staff member turnover. This checklist is designed for annual preparation for turnover. This workshop is for staff and member leadership. This session will be recorded.
