Identity Based Caucuses

Caucuses are spaces for participants with shared identities to raise issues, build connections, and organize for change within NASCO, their own co-ops, and our broader communities. These are member-led spaces for participants to guide the discussion as they see fit.

Each caucus will meet on Friday or Saturday during NASCO Institute, elect representatives, and bring proposals to the Collective Liberation Congress, which will be held in person on Saturday, November 15th, from 4:45 PM - 6:15 PM PM Eastern

Identity-based caucuses are not spaces for people who do not share an identity to learn about issues affecting that group or offer their support (i.e. “be an ally”). We encourage those folks to attend one of the workshops on these topics instead.

The following caucuses will be included in person at Institute this year:

  • Women’s Caucus (Friday, Nov 14 12:15-1:45 PM)

  • LGBTQIA2S+ Caucus (Friday, Nov 14 2:00-3:30 PM)

  • Black Caucus (Saturday, Nov 15th 10:15 AM - 11:30 AM)

  • Accessibility Caucus (Saturday, Nov 15th 2:15 PM - 3:30 PM)

  • Native Peoples Caucus (Saturday, Nov 15th 2:15 PM - 3:30 PM)

  • People of Color Caucus (Saturday, Nov 15th 3:45 PM - 4:30 PM)

  • Working Class Caucus (Saturday, Nov 15th 3:45 PM - 4:30 PM)

Why Isn't There a Caucus for X Identity?

Would you like to attend a caucus that isn’t listed above? Organize one! Participants are welcome to reserve a Guerrilla Workshop room available throughout the weekend of Institute for any caucus they’d like to hold. However, only the caucuses listed in the schedule above are currently able to make appointments to the Collective Liberation Congress.
